Anthem Introduces New Insurance Options for Small Business
Date:11/2/2007

EmployeeElect will offer flexibility and cost-control

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Small employers in Maine now have the health insurance options of much larger businesses. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced today a new portfolio of eleven insurance plans for small businesses (50 or fewer employees) under the name EmployeeElect. These new insurance products provide more health insurance choices than have ever been available for Maine's small businesses.

"We listened to small business owners and employees and developed EmployeeElect to meet their needs," said Don Antonucci, Director, small group sales for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine. "Now small businesses have insurance plan choices once available only to larger companies."

With EmployeeElect, small business employees will have a portfolio of 11 plans that offer more flexibility and cost control for employers and more choices for employees. The portfolio will expand to 13 plan choices as of January 1, 2008.

The eleven EmployeeElect plans are grouped into three categories: classic HMO protection, flexible PPO plans and innovative Lumenos HSA and HRA offerings. EmployeeElect allows a business with ten employees to pick ten different options that best suit the individual employee. The plans vary in price based on the type of plan, the level of benefits and the deductibles chosen.

"In addition to a broad array of health insurance options, Anthem is also offering ProtectionPack, bundled life, disability and member assistance programs and Lifepack, bundled life and member assistance programs, for those small businesses that are interested in life and disability insurance options as well," added Antonucci.

EmployeeElect joins Chamber BlueOptions, insurance programs offered through the Maine State Chamber Purchasing Alliance to all local and regional Chamber members, as new choices for Maine's small business community. Information abo
