Angie's Spa is thrilled to announce the receipt of their official IRS determination letter.
New York, NY (Vocus) March 25, 2009 -- Angie's Spa (www.angiesspa.org) is thrilled to announce the receipt of their official IRS determination letter. This letter confirms Angie's Spa as a fully operating charity which serves and supports therapeutic massage and spa services for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Thanks to the diligent work of Manhattan law firm Wilkie, Farr & Gallagher (www.willkie.com), Angie's Spa can now bring its fundraising and philanthropic efforts to the next level and will launch in two hospitals this Spring: Northridge Community Hospital, located outside of Los Angeles, CA, and The Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute in Boston, MA.
Northridge Hospital Medical Center (www.northridgehospital.org) in Northridge, CA, is the newest addition to the Angie's Spa family, and the organization's first venture into providing spa services to patients of all ages and genders. Northridge Hospital will launch a state-of-the-art Wellness Center in support of their commitment to providing patients with non-traditional services to compliment traditional treatments. Angie's Spa will play an important role in the launch of this center.
Dana-Farber Cancer Research Institute (www.dana-farber.org) in Boston, MA is the home of the Young Women with Breast Cancer program. Angie's Spa will provide these women with free spa therapies in the chemotherapy infusion room. The spa services will be provided in conjunction with the medical treatments of their chemotherapy treatment protocol.
Studies have proven that both the mind and spirit play a crucial role in healing the body. Complementary and holistic treatments have been shown to have especially powerful effects in reducing pain and other side effects of cancer. They boost energy levels, improve mood, and decrease stress, anxiety, depression, and fatigue. Angie's Spa aims to improve patients' spirits, souls, and self-esteem.
About Angie's Spa
Angie's Spa was founded in 2008 in honor of Angie Levy, who lost a brave and valiant nine-year battle with metastatic breast cancer in 2007. She was an alumna of both Emory University and Wharton Business school, and a former JP Morgan employee. As a tribute to Angie, the organization provides free spa services (including head, neck, hand, and foot massages) to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. The organization's goal is to extend free spa services to cancer patients in hospitals throughout the country.
