An Incredible Weight Loss Camp Success Story Shares Her Perspective on Obesity Epidemic
Date:6/13/2013

Santa Cruz, CA (PRWEB) June 13, 2013

Elisabeth McDonald, a 16 year old from Marshfield, Massachusetts, sought to fight the obesity epidemic that plagues many teens by embarking on her own own personal journey at BalanceME California weight loss camp. She looked to find weight loss, fitness improvements, and greater self-confidence. In eight weeks, she lost 40 lbs and gained motivation and skills to stay healthy. Nearly a year later, she has maintained her success.

Elisabeth recently shared her perspective on the causes America's weight issue with a research paper released by BalanceME entitled, "The Causes of Adolescent Obesity".

“Most of my weight gain came from being stressed. My sophomore year of high school was the hardest year of school I ever had,” said Elisabeth McDonald, “Every day we all went to Wendy’s and I just didn’t know how to eat healthy.” Before joining BalanceME and losing weight, Elisabeth was part of the one-third of our country’s teens who are overweight or obese.

Elisabeth and her family went through similar process like a lot of families in helping their teens try to lose weight. She started by considering a personal trainer. Some families look at a nutritionist, joining a local gym, or push their child to join a sports team or league, hoping that will change the path they see their child on.

“What studies and experience have shown is that the best chance at success in weight loss is a combination of nutrition and activity paired with a therapeutic approach to behavioral change,” stated John Gordon, CEO of BalanceME
