Salt Lake City, UT (PRWEB) May 30, 2013
Amirsys announces the release of the Anatomy Reference Center, a comprehensive and online anatomy reference serving a wide range of medical specialties and health professionals. The Anatomy Reference Center is part of the Amirsys Reference Centers suite of products, which also includes the Imaging Reference Center and the Pathology Reference Center. Each of the Amirsys Reference Centers is now available for use in medical libraries.
The Anatomy Reference Center topics cover categories across two anatomy perspectives: gross human anatomy and imaging anatomy. Gross anatomy topics, written by award-winning anatomists, include both regional and systemic anatomy perspectives for normal anatomy. Imaging anatomy topics, written by renowned radiology specialists, present anatomy from a clinical perspective, providing important insights for professionals in clinical settings. Each topic guides medical professionals with succinct, bulleted information for quick comprehension.
In addition to gross and clinical anatomy topics, the Anatomy Reference Center includes over 10,000 highly-detailed illustrations, cadaver photos, radiology images, and histology images. Normal imaging anatomy includes CT and MRI scans, plain film, and ultrasound for all body regions.
“The Amirsys Anatomy Reference Center is the first online anatomy reference to combine gross anatomy and radiology imaging anatomy perspectives,” says Dr. Anne Osborn, CEO of Amirsys Publishing and University Distinguished Professor of Radiology at the University of Utah School of Medicine. “This combination makes the Anatomy Reference Center perfect for every medical professional, from residents and fellows in emergency medicine, to nurses in internal medicine, to surgeons.”
Anatomy Reference Center includes substantial detail for any medical professional, with over 15,000 structures, spaces, and locations. Using Anatomy Reference Center, health professionals can find references for nearly 8,000 gross anatomy structures; 6,000 clinically oriented structures, locations and features; and nearly 1,000 anatomically specific structural diseases and abnormalities.
The regional and systemic topics were written by a team of nine celebrated anatomists (two of whom are winners of the Basmajian Award; five of whom have been nominated for the Basmajian Award; and one of whom has been honored with a lifetime achievement award for training over 2,000 anatomy teaching assistants) and multiple teaching award winners. The imaging anatomy content was written by world-renowned radiologists who are specialists in their fields and who actively participate in the education of the next generation of radiologists. The authors come from institutions such as the University of Utah School of Medicine; UCLA School of Medicine; Boston University School of Medicine; Indiana University School of Medicine; Medical College of Wisconsin; School of Health Sciences for Mayo Clinic Arizona; and Harvard Medical School.
