Members of ethnic minority groups in the United States are about 2 to 4 times more likely than non-minorities to develop kidney failure.

In 2007, the American Kidney Fund provided $1.2 million in treatment-related grant assistance to kidney patients in the State of New York, and over $100 million in assistance to 68,000 kidney patients nationwide.
