American College of Lifestyle Medicine President Dr. David Katz Named Senior Medical Advisor by Verywell
Date:5/4/2016

Recognizing that lifestyle medicine is essential to health and healthcare, About.com and its newly launched health brand, Verywell, have tapped David Katz, MD, MPH, president of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, as their first senior medical advisor.

“Our shared devotion to lifestyle medicine is especially gratifying,” said Katz. “There is so much opportunity to add years to lives, and life to years, with healthful lifestyle practices—empowering information, insights, tools and resources can help people get there from here. I am privileged to be working with a large group of content experts at Verywell. I’ll also be contributing content of my own and fostering opportunities in this regard for colleagues in both the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the True Health Initiative. I believe we can do a lot of good together, and Verywell is the ideal vehicle."

With more than 50,000 pieces of content, Verywell covers a full spectrum of health and wellness topics ranging from medical conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis, to advice on fitness, nutrition, health insurance, pregnancy and more.

“Verywell is dedicated to providing users with relatable health and wellness information they can trust,” said Neil Vogel, CEO of About.com. “We are honored to be working with Dr. Katz as his medical expertise and passion for communicating science-based messages lends tremendous credibility to our content strategy and mission.”

"It's a great honor for me to work with Verywell as its senior medical advisor,” said Katz. “About.com was already a leading source of health information; yet, with this dedicated channel, it has the potential to be even more influential.”
