American College of Chest Physicians Names New CEO

ially become acting EVP and CEO on November 6, immediately following CHEST 2009, the ACCP's 75th annual meeting. His predecessor, Alvin Lever, will relinquish the position on November 5, after holding the CEO position for 18 years.

"For the last 18 years, Al Lever has served the College with passion and determination," said Dr. Mathers. "Under his stewardship, the ACCP has become recognized as the premier professional organization for practitioners of clinical chest medicine. We look forward to his continued consultation and support of the College and The CHEST Foundation during the transition process and beyond."

The ACCP will celebrate 75 Years of Inspiration during CHEST 2009, the ACCP's annual scientific meeting held in San Diego, October 31 to November 5. ACCP represents 17,400 members who provide patient care in the areas of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine in the United States and throughout the world. The mission of the ACCP is to promote the prevention and treatment of diseases of the chest through leadership, education, research, and communication.
