AmSpa Releases 2019 Medical Spa State of the Industry Report

The American Med Spa Association (AmSpa) has released the 2019 Medical Spa State of the Industry Report. This report is designed to help medical aesthetic and medical spa professionals understand the realities of the industry and make better, more informed decisions using data collected from providers across the industry.

“It’s been two years since AmSpa released the 2017 Medical Spa State of the Industry Report and so much has happened during that time in the medical spa industry,” says Alex Thiersch, JD, AmSpa founder and CEO. “It is growing at a rapid clip, as the study shows, and it truly is only just beginning. AmSpa has worked in association with the research firm Gordian Solutions Group, LLC (GSG) to compile the most accurate and informative medical spa business and benchmarking report about the United States’ medical spa industry. We are excited to share not only how quickly the industry is growing, but how it is evolving into one of the leading growth industries in the nation. The information in this report is critical to any company operating within today’s U.S. medical spa industry to help them stay abreast of the state of the industry and chart a more accurate course for business success.”

The medical aesthetic industry is growing at a remarkable rate, and to keep pace, medical spa owners and operators need to know what is really going on. From late 2018 to April 2019, AmSpa, along with partner GSG, conducted an online survey of medical spa owners, and that information makes up the bulk of the information in the report. Additionally, AmSpa members and subject matter experts were interviewed to provide even deeper insights into the topics, which include, among many others:

  • Demographics for medical spa professionals and patients
  • Medical spa ownership structure
  • Business statistics and benchmarks
  • Most profitable procedures
  • Patient spending habits
  • And much more

“The medical spa industry is one of the fastest-growing, aesthetically focused industries in the United States,” says Brooke Bower, director of market research for GSG. “GSG is proud to partner with AmSpa, an industry leader in medical spa knowledge and support services, to elevate the state of the data, analytics and insights available to the medical spa industry. These insights have been derived from medical spa owners and industry subject-matter experts to enable data-driven decisions. GSG has more than 30 years of combined in-depth marketing and analytics experience in all facets of the aesthetic industry, including health care professional, patient and aesthetic treatments; devices; and procedures. We are proud to bring this expertise to our partnership with AmSpa to the benefit of the medical spa community. We strive to elevate the state of data, analytics and insights into what makes the medical spa industry ‘tick’ through rigorous marketing research methodologies.”
