'Alternatives' Program Offers Incentives for Using First-Time Egg Donors

CHICAGO, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Alternative Reproductive Resources (ARR) today announced a new program that responds to the current economic realities given the investment required for assisted reproduction approaches.

Called "Alternatives," it offers incentive pricing to intended parents to choose a first-time egg donor for their fertility procedure.

"In this economic climate, a lot of young women are willing to become egg donors," said Robin von Halle, president of ARR, the Chicago firm that was the first egg recruitment agency in Chicago and one of the first in the nation.

"And while we still have many intended parents, the investment this process requires makes them increasingly cautious," she added. "They don't want to risk using a first-time donor - they want one whose eggs are proven for fertility."

The Alternatives program is priced 35 percent below standard packages for egg donation; in addition to the donor's compensation, it covers accident insurance, the donor's legal representation, independent psychological screening, the agency fee and incidental expenses.

First-time egg donors are given the option of participating at a nominal reduction in their compensation. "The upside for them is that they will get matched that much faster and, as a result, proven for future cycles," said von Halle.
