The practice also credits its use of Professional EHR with delivering a dramatic decline in overhead costs, improving the work-life balance of its providers, and delivering higher patient satisfaction ratings.

Professional 9.0 expands on its' existing disease management capabilities with enhancements like a physician dashboard that highlights a patient's care management plan, providing at-a-glance graphing of key health measures such as blood pressure and cholesterol.

A new custom "guideline builder" lets users define which clinical measures the EHR should highlight during a patient visit. For example, if a physician prefers American Diabetes Association (ADA) guidelines for diabetic patients, the application will deliver on-screen alerts whenever a patient exceeds ADA standards for blood-glucose levels, or other health measures. Professional 9.0 ships with the most common national guidelines pre-built into the application, so customization is an option, not a requirement.

These enhancements will help satisfy the as-yet-unannounced "meaningful use" requirements of the fede
