HealthVault is a consumer-centric platform enabling an environment of new and existing online health applications and services from a wide variety of companies to search, store and connect people with their health information, helping to put them in control of their (and their family's) health and wellness. Consumers and physicians who open a HealthVault account can use the online platform to share their personal health information with whomever they choose, and across any HealthVault enabled application or service. HealthVault industry partners such as Allscripts and Medem, the provider of iHealthRecord(R) personal health record, have made their solutions HealthVault-compatible to encourage patients and healthcare providers to exchange beneficial information in an environment of enhanced privacy and security.
