Allied World's Linda McSmith to Speak at Ohio Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers Annual Meeting

PEMBROKE, Bermuda, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Allied World Assurance Company Holdings, Ltd (NYSE: AWH) announced today that Linda McSmith, AVP, Risk Management for Allied World U.S., will be speaking on behalf of Darwin, a brand of Allied World, at the Ohio Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers (OAASC) annual meeting at the Cherry Valley Lodge in Newark, Ohio on September 24-25, 2009.

Ms. McSmith's presentation, "How Much Risk Are You Willing To Incur In Your ASC?" will take place during the first session on Thursday, September 24. She will discuss ways to identify common risks in the ASC and discuss ways to manage those risks. Ms. McSmith is joined by other healthcare and insurance professionals to address the challenges for ASC leadership, clinical, operations and finance.

This year's OAASC conference theme is "Celebrating Success, Planning for Change." While acknowledging the success of the organization to date, speakers will discuss the potential for drastic changes in healthcare financing, regulation and mandates and the effect of the economy on the industry overall.

Ms. McSmith provides risk management education and consultation to medical professional policyholders, helping them assess and manage their organizational risk. She also assists healthcare clients with ongoing medical educational programs, policy and procedure review and development.

Prior to her work with Darwin, Ms. McSmith spent 26 years in the nursing field where she gained experience in medical surgical nursing, dialysis and outpatient surgical services. She has extensive experience in ambulatory surgery operations and expertise in quality and risk management. Ms. McSmith earned her RN degree from St. Petersburg College.
