rvice providers, food manufacturers and distributors in many states and countries.

Meanwhile, health officials on Tuesday reported that the outbreak might be winding down, with the number of new cases declining during the past two weeks. Since the outbreak began last fall, there have been 501 victims in 43 states and one Canadian province, and a possible eight deaths that are connected.

Because most of the tainted products went to institutions like schools, Tauxe said more than half the victims have been children.

The FDA Web site lists these recalled products.

There is a growing list of products determined to be safe at the American Peanut Council.
