HHS Administrators Visit Facilities to Ensure Successful and Timely Program

MIAMI, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- All-Med Services of Florida today announced its selection by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as one of only 325 medical equipment suppliers nationwide to serve Medicare beneficiaries under its Competitive Bidding Program. All-Med, based in Miami Lakes, currently services 1,600 physicians throughout Florida, making the company one of the largest providers in the state.

Josefina Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging for the Administration on Aging, and Kerry Weems, Acting Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, recently visited All-Med's headquarters to evaluate the company and confirm its ability to meet the demands of Medicare beneficiaries under the new program.

"We are honored to have been selected by CMS for this very important national program, and are confident that with our preparedness, experience and track-record, All-Med will meet the needs of Medicare beneficiaries," stated Jose Linares, vice president of All-Med Services of Florida. "We have the operations in place and the capacity to guarantee a successful implementation of the program."

The Medicare Competitive Bidding Program is part of a larger effort intended to reduce program costs, beneficiary out-of-pocket expenses and help curb Medicare fraud. The program changes the way Medicare covers the costs for these items under Medicare Part B by utilizing bids submitted by durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and suppliers (DMEPOS). The program will initially operate in 10 of the largest metropolitan statistical areas (MSA) and will be applied to 10 of the top durable medical equipment, prosthetics and orthotics, and supplies product categories. In 2009, the program will expand to additional MSA's and additional product categories.

All-Med Services of Florida, Inc. is a full-service, durable medical equipment, respiratory, medical supply and infusion company meeting the needs of patients 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week through distribution centers in Miami Lakes, Jupiter, Tampa, Fort Myers, Bradenton and Orlando. Founded in 1987, All-Med has a proven reputation of offering timely, quality-care to patients throughout Florida.
