HHS Administrators Visit Facilities to Ensure Successful and Timely Program

MIAMI, July 14 /PRNewswire/ -- All-Med Services of Florida today announced its selection by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as one of only 325 medical equipment suppliers nationwide to serve Medicare beneficiaries under its Competitive Bidding Program. More than 6,300 equipment suppliers participated in this bid.

All-Med, based in Miami Lakes, currently services 1,600 physicians throughout Florida, making the company one of the largest providers in the state.

Josefina Carbonell, Assistant Secretary for Aging for the Administration on Aging, and Kerry Weems, Acting Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, recently visited All-Med's headquarters to evaluate the company and confirm its ability to meet the demands of Medicare beneficiaries under the new program.

The Medicare Competitive Bidding Program is part of a larger effort intended to reduce program costs, beneficiary out-of-pocket expenses and help curb Medicare fraud. The program changes the way Medicare covers the costs for these items under Medicare Part B by utilizing bids submitted by durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and suppliers (DMEPOS).
