(KePRO), an integrated care management and quality improvement organization, will be a featured speaker at the 15th Annual MEDecision User Conference to be held in Philadelphia May 6-8, 2009.

Harrisburg, PA (Vocus) May 5, 2009 -- Alice Stollenwerk Petrulis, MD, FACP, Chief Medical Officer for the Keystone Peer Review Organizations, Inc. (KePRO), an integrated care management and quality improvement organization, will be a featured speaker at the 15th Annual MEDecision User Conference to be held in Philadelphia May 6-8, 2009. Dr. Petrulis will be presenting two of KePRO's recent innovations that set them apart in the competitive care management industry.

In her first presentation, Dr. Petrulis explains how KePRO adopted MEDecision's auto-approval technology to reduce registered nurse reviewer time and lower administrative overhead expenses. By automating certain high-frequency diagnoses and resulting admissions requests, KePRO generated significant cost, time and resource savings for both itself and its clients. In one contract alone the innovation last year resulted in 90,000 auto-approvals and a $250,000 savings. KePRO is now implementing this cost saving auto-approval process for all of our clients.

KePRO is one of three finalists for the MEDecision Innovation Award, recognizing inventive use of technology. The winner will be announced during the conference.

Dr. Petrulis will also speak on KePRO's on Case Management - a Focus on Clinical Outcomes, where she will detail how KePRO updated its OptiCare clinical pathways, based on evidence-based medicine and best practices, which will lead to improve health outcomes for the company's over 4 million members.

Dr. Petrulis is highly respected throughout the national healthcare quality improvement arena. She is a member of the National Quality Forum's Care Coordination Committee; she recently served as the Co-Chair of the National Quality Forum's Ambulatory Practice Steering Committee, which reviews quality measures that organizations like CMS and insurance companies use. She incorporates quality improvement activities into KePRO's integrated care management solutions, ensuring that members are receiving evidence-based care to optimize their health outcomes, while reducing client costs. She spoke at numerous national conferences about quality improvement initiatives and the success of those efforts she led.

Dr. Petrulis became the KePRO's Chief Medical Officer in December 2005. She oversees all of the KePRO family of companies' medical directors, and provides clinical leadership relative for the company's population health management and quality improvement initiatives. She also assists and promotes business development and strategic planning activities, and recruits physicians for our review panels and as medical directors.

Previously, she served as the Medical Director, Post-Acute Care Services of Ohio KePRO, a KePRO company, for five years. She spearheaded the efforts to ensure the medical integrity of Ohio KePRO's provider and patient quality improvement interventions, tools, and presentations. Dr. Petrulis also served in the organization's lead medical role for long-term care, home health care, and outpatient physician office projects, including the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' DOQ-IT initiative.
