Albertsons Officially Launches Healthy Eaters(TM) Field Trip Program

experiences to promote understanding of healthy behaviors and choices. For intermediate students (3rd - 4th grade), tours emphasize a higher-level of thinking and decision making related to healthy eating habits and nutrition. Lessons include specifics on healthy choices, reading labels, nutrients, fats and portion sizes that are demonstrated through hands-on exercises relevant to the grocery environment. At the end of the tour, participants receive free samples of healthy foods and goodie bags.

"If children learn from a young age how to make the right food choices, they will be more likely to make those healthy choices throughout their lifetime," said Diller. "With the grocery store being one of the most visited destinations in our every day lives, we have a tremendous opportunity to educate children and their families about nutrition, and show them how easy it is to live healthier."

Albertsons Healthy Eaters(TM) is offered in Idaho, Montana, Southern California, Southern Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming, in cities where Albertsons has grocery stores. To schedule a field trip, educators or leaders of youth organizations/ groups can either call 1-800-987-6409 or go online at http://www.fieldtripfactory.com. The program is ongoing and bus funding opportunities may be available in certain locations.
