Albertson's LLC Launches $10.99 for 90-day Supply of Generic Drugs as Part of Rx-tra Savings Prescription Discount Program

Rx-tra Savings is Available at Albertsons stores throughout AR, AZ, CO, FL, LA, NM and TX

BOISE, Idaho, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Albertson's LLC announced an expansion of its Albertsons Rx-tra Savings prescription discount program today by introducing a new offering of $10.99 for a 90-day supply of over 500 generic drugs. In addition, Albertsons has added new generic medications to its formulary of over 500 drugs that are already covered by this discount program. Additional medications include cholesterol lowering agents, anti-hypertensive, and women's health medications.

In October 2008, Albertson's LLC launched its Rx-tra Savings program which provides member households with discounts on all generic and brand name medications--offering up to a 30-day supply of select generic drugs for only $4.99. And for a limited time, new registrants in the program will receive a $10 Albertsons gift certificate. This membership-based program is offered in all of the company's in-store pharmacies.

"We have gotten such a great response to this low-cost alternative for our pharmacy patients, that we're excited to enhance it so soon after its launch," explains Raymond McCall, Vice President of Pharmacy Operations for Albertson's LLC.

Albertsons Rx-tra Savings program includes generic alternatives for some of the most commonly prescribed drugs used to treat disease states such as diabetes, asthma, depression, heart disease, thyroid and other health problems. Membership in the program is a one-time $10 fee which covers all members of the household--with no restrictions on number of participants or prescriptions.

Albertson's LLC is working to become the favorite food and drug retailer in every market it serves. The company is privately owned and operates over 250 stores under the Albertsons banner in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Texas.
