Supermarket Gains Latest Pharmacy Management Technology, Will Offer Patients Any-Store Refills

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Boise, Idaho-based Albertson's, LLC has selected PDX and affiliates Rx.com and NHIN as its turnkey partners of choice for its pharmacy technology solution.

Albertson's, LLC is replacing its current system with the all new Enterprise Pharmacy System (EPS), unparalleled in efficiency, safety, and tools for patient care. The chain's pharmacies will also implement the Rx.com Electronic Pharmacy Record (EPR), which facilitates complete chain-wide DUR checking and allows patients the convenience of shopping at any Albertson's, LLC pharmacy. Additionally, NHIN will provide complete submissions, reconciliations, and collections services for Albertsons, LLC as well as manage its day-to-day central host operations via Host Administrative Services.

"PDX is an industry leader in pharmacy solutions, and it's highly compatible with our current processes," said Raymond McCall, Vice President of Pharmacy Operations for Albertson's, LLC. "We were looking for a pharmacy solutions vendor that understood our business requirements and could put them to work in their application, as well as one whose core business was pharmacy software development. In the end, PDX best met our needs."

George Owens, Senior Vice President at PDX said, "We are especially pleased to have Albertson's, LLC join our PDX family of customers. They are recognized nationwide and highly regarded as a well-run operation. We will enjoy working with them."

Albertson's, LLC plans to pilot EPS in pharmacies in Texas and Arizona later this year, and roll out the technology company-wide in 2010. As EPS and the EPR--now expanded to almost half the PDX customer base and representing over 65 million patients and almost one billion prescriptions--continue to see increased adoption throughout the pharmacy industry, PDX remains the leader in pharmacy systems with over 10,000 installations throughout the United States.
