surgery and every two years thereafter. A very large hurdle for patients is the cost of the MRI; the cost after two screening exams can exceed the cost of the initial surgery, and in most circumstances will not be covered by insurance.

“The cost of breast augmentation is around $7000. Because MRIs in the Milwaukee area cost as much as $8500 at local hospitals, the FDA screening guidelines could cost more than the initial surgery,” says Milwaukee plastic surgeon Dr. Michelle Bonness. Many area surgeons are having a hard time finding patients that can financially afford to follow the FDA guidelines. “Our program makes following the FDA implant rupture detection guidelines much more affordable,” says Eric Haberichter, Co-Founder and Business Development Director for Smart Choice MRI. “Every MRI at Smart Choice MRI is $600. The exam takes approximately 45 minutes and patients can be scheduled the same or next day for the procedure.”
