ST. PAUL, Minn., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Acuo Technologies is a market leading provider of comprehensive software solutions to the medical imaging industry for archiving, collaboration and migration services. Recently there has been an increased attention to migrations as a result of the increasing size of digital imaging archives caused by new modalities like multi-slice CT's, Digital Mammography and the onset of new contributors like digital pathology systems. Many healthcare institutions that are beginning the transition from their current 5 year investment of PACS are realizing they are facing an expensive and lengthy transition from their existing systems to their new next generation PACS. At this important juncture, many CIO's are questioning the wisdom of removing their data from proprietary legacy PACS systems and putting them into their new next generation system which is in a proprietary format AGAIN. The realization that there is a moment during the migration where the data is fully DICOM compliant, motivates many to seek a way to avoid the future migrations that will be larger, require more time and ultimately be more expensive.
To meet this need, Acuo Technologies is announcing the launch of the FREE Migration Archive License. The FREE Migration Archive License provides a fully DICOM compliant archive that stores migrated studies in a format that will never require customers to pay for the remigration of their data. When Acuo Technologies is contracted to perform the migration, there is no cost for the license of the vendor neutral Migration Archive to store migrated studies in a fully DICOM compliant format.
The Migration Archive can be upgraded to provide additional
functionality for healthcare IT, including;
-- Pre-PACS replacement Migration Archive enables facilities to accelerate
the transfer to the newly purchased PACS by moving legacy studies to
the Migration Archive months before installing the new PACS. This
strategy eliminates the need to delay using the new PACS while trying
to migrate data from the old PACS. The early migration allows quicker
use of the new PACS and shutdown of the old PACS, saving money and
time.
-- PACS replacement risk management. IT projects are not always
successful, but it can be even more painful to change vendors when the
project sours. This difficulty is due to the time and cost of
migration that is required to install the new PACS, and the realization
that it would need to be redone in order to switch to another PACS. By
implementing the low cost Migration Archive, a Hospital is able to
hedge their risk of moving to a new PACS by allowing the rapid transfer
to a new PACS in case the first PACS did not meet their needs.
-- The Migration Archive can be upgraded to a Disaster Recovery Archive
for use not only as a secondary source of the legacy images, but as
DICOM compliant archive for new studies. By retaining both sets of
images, the need to pay for future migrations is eliminated.
-- The Migration Archive can also be the foundation for all "Ologies" as
either a Disaster Recovery Archive or as a primary Vendor Neutral
Archive for Cardiology, Vascular, and all image producing departments.
As with all solutions from Acuo Technologies, the Migration Archive is software which allows the use of servers and storage that is in line with the facilities strategy, not the vendor's limited hardware selection. Acuo will work with you to design the best hardware solution that incorporates IT's existing infrastructure, leverages new technology, and ensures the ability to grow as needed without the standard "rip and replace" schema seen with other PACS vendors.
Acuo Technologies, an image management software company, will be demonstrating DICOM Services Grid software solutions that manage medical image storage and retrieval and integrate them with existing technology platforms.
