Actos Lawsuit News: Plaintiff Claims Actos Causes Bladder Cancer, Rottenstein Law Group LLP Reports
Date:6/17/2013

(PRWEB) June 17, 2013

On June 10 a woman filed a lawsuit in New Jersey federal court against Takeda, maker of the popular diabetes drug Actos, claiming that Actos caused her father to eventually die of bladder cancer. The Rottenstein Law Group LLP maintains an Actos Lawsuit Information Center at http://www.rotlaw.com/takeda-actos, designed to provide background information on the drug and Actos lawsuits.

Plaintiff Janice Lightner asserts that her father took Actos to treat his type 2 diabetes and later died from bladder cancer, according to court documents in Janice Lightner v. Takeda Pharmaceuticals America Inc. et al. (no. 2:13-cv-03602, U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey). There are currently more than 1,200 lawsuits consolidated in federal court, according to court documents in IN RE: Actos (Pioglitazone) Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2299.

“This is just one of many lawsuits across the nation alleging that Actos is linked to—often fatal—bladder cancer,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “We receive calls from diabetics who have used Actos making the same allegation and who are interested in filing a lawsuit. The body of evidence potentially supporting these plaintiffs’ claims is expanding.”

Years of clinical trials and research have shown that Actos is potentially linked to incidents of bladder cancer in those who use the drug, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.*

The Rottenstein Law Group maintains an Actos page on its website, which provides additional news updates about the drug and how to contact an Actos attorney to learn more about filing a lawsuit.
