Actos Lawsuit News: More Than a Dozen Lawsuits Filed in West Virginia, Rottenstein Law Group LLP Reports
Date:7/26/2013

(PRWEB) July 26, 2013

Fourteen Actos lawsuits were filed recently in Wayne County Circuit Court in West Virginia, notes the Rottenstein Law Group LLP, which maintains an Actos Lawsuit Information Center designed to provide information on possible Actos side effects and lawsuits.

The 14 plaintiffs filed claims against Takeda Pharmaceuticals USA, Inc., maker of the type-2 diabetes drug Actos, alleging that the drug caused them to suffer bladder cancer, according to court documents in Richard M. Douglas Sr. et al. (Nos. 13-C-111 et al., Wayne County Circuit Court, West Virginia).

“Bladder cancer is an alleged side effect of Actos use that we hear about quite often during our conversations with those who are seeking to file a lawsuit,” said Rochelle Rottenstein, principal of the Rottenstein Law Group LLP. “If Takeda did market the drug despite the risks, then the company should be held accountable in a court of law.”

There are currently more than 1,200 lawsuits consolidated in federal court, according to court documents in IN RE: Actos (Pioglitazone) Products Liability Litigation, MDL-2299. Several years of clinical trials and research have confirmed that Actos is linked to incidents of bladder cancer in those who use the drug, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.*

The Rottenstein Law Group LLP encourages those interested in learning more about alleged Actos side effects and lawsuits to download a free brochure from its website.
