Acclaimed Texas Surgeon Offers Hope through Expertise in Erb’s Palsy Surgery

Noted cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Arturo Armenta, has opened a private practice in the heart of Texas Medical Center. Dr. Armenta, co-director of the Texas Brachial Plexus Institute, has chosen to open up this new chapter in his medical career in order to further assist Erb's Palsy patients to recover and rejuvenate with the best possible care.

While he has years of distinguished work to his credit with the Baylor Plastic Surgery Program, Dr. Armenta shines in his highly-specialized field: peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery. The condition involves the upper group of the arm's nerves, which can be injured during the birthing process. The injury can also occur in adults, however, and is relatively common among motorcyclists. Erb’s Palsy surgery techniques are necessarily delicate, and that’s where Dr. Armenta’s vast experience and skills play their most important role. Dr. Armenta's private practice is the culmination of many years of work for the multifaceted surgeon. He first began his years of study at Stanford University, where he earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. He then took this much sought-after degree to Baylor College, where he received his medical doctorate. While at Baylor, he went on to a residency in plastic surgery and completed a fellowship in Peripheral Nerves and Microsurgery. The good doctor further stands celebrated in his field as the co-director of the Texas Brachial Plexus Institute which, until recently, was part of the Texas Children's Hospital. Armenta has also toured many medical campuses, both in the Americas and in Europe, sharing this unique and specialized expertise with surgeons, and is a well-published author in medical journals.

The opening of a practice is no surprise to those who know Dr. Armenta, as he is known for being involved with communities large and small. He gladly and proudly belongs to the two largest guiding bodies for plastic surgeons; the American Board of Plastic Surgeons (where he has been once again recognized as a Diplomat) and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is active, too, in more local societies, such as the Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Texas Medical Association, and even volunteers at The Methodist Hospital, where he shares his invaluable experience with plastic surgery residents.
