Above and Beyond Family Center Announces Premier Public Reception

Above and Beyond Family Recovery Center is proud to announce a public reception on Thursday, November 12th from noon to 3 PM as one of its premier opening events.

Neighbors, the general public, and interested parties are invited to stop by and greet the passionate and qualified staff who intend to intake their first client that very morning. Tours, Q&A, program descriptions, and “meet the Directors” are part of the itinerary. If possible, please RSVP at 773.940.2960 so that nearby Inspiration Kitchens (a culinary training program for disadvantaged youth) can have enough gourmet food available. If RSVP is not possible, please stop by anyway and partake.

Located in the heart of the west side of Chicago between the California and Kedzie Green Line CTA Stations, the 2942 W Lake address is a stunning showroom of beautifully repurposed furniture and art that is intended to welcome clients of all economic statuses with the dignity and self-esteem that all humanity deserves.

The creative beauty of the physical location is mirrored in the program offerings which are holistically designed to interface with the whole person instead of just their social dysfunctions. Amidst the current lineup is a proprietary five week job readiness program, a series of art therapy classes, and a trauma recognition and counseling group.

Above and Beyond is a level 1 and level 2 harm reduction treatment center with a range of programs that will take drug dependent abusers from the street, or from their dysfunctional living situations, all the way to housing and employment with case management, counseling, and hands-on therapeutic interactions as their guides.

The pioneering nature of this unique venture was the brainchild of Brian Cressey, Board Chair, Herman Russell, Director of Sober Support, and Gwen Williams, Co-Director. As Gwen puts it, “because we are privately funded and not at the mercy of grant requirements or directive donor demands, we have been able to put together a process of holistic modalities that can live under one roof like no other substance abuse clinic that we know of in the City of Chicago. We intend to guide our growth and development through the use of evidence based reporting and metrics which will help us amplify what works and discard what doesn’t.”

The vision of Above and Beyond is to build an individualized treatment experience that meets individuals and families where they are, as well as addressing social environments and life circumstances such as: education, employment readiness, interpersonal relationships, and community activities. Clinical services are provided through individual and group sessions guided by certified counselors and licensed clinicians. Any services not provided directly by Above and Beyond will be covered by linkage agreements to facilities that can provide them with the same embedded attitude of joy through servitude that Above and Beyond embraces.
