Abbott Launches Fruitified(TM) ZonePerfect(R) All-Natural Nutrition Bars

New antioxidant-rich recipes provide convenience for on-the-go snacking

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Abbott (NYSE: ABT) today announced the launch of new Fruitified(TM) ZonePerfect(R) Nutrition Bars, all-natural, antioxidant-packed snacks available in four great-tasting flavors: Apple Cinnamon, Blueberry, Banana Nut and Orange Cranberry. Fruitified ZonePerfect Nutrition Bars are an excellent source of protein and calcium and a good source of fiber(1). Each bar contains 100 percent of the recommended daily value of antioxidant Vitamins C and E.

According to the American Heart Association, up to 30 percent of Americans are taking some form of antioxidant supplement. Antioxidants, such as Vitamins C and E, may help keep the body balanced and healthy, support the immune system and nourish radiant skin.

"Many of the top antioxidant-abundant foods -- fresh fruits, berries, vegetables, cereals and legumes -- are nutritionally beneficial, but not always convenient for on-the-go snacking," said Rosemary Riley, Ph.D., nutrition scientist for Abbott Nutrition.
