ABBOTT PARK, Ill., April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Abbott (NYSE: ABT) today announced the availability of the FreeStyle Freedom(R) Lite Blood Glucose Monitoring System (http://www.abbottdiabetescare.com/). Offering all of the benefits of Abbott's FreeStyle family of glucose monitoring systems, the newly designed FreeStyle Freedom Lite system provides accurate, reliable results that can help improve diabetes management (http://www.diabetescontrolforlife.com/), which can ultimately lead to better health.

By combining features such as no manual coding, which eliminates one step in the testing process; the world's smallest sample size requirement (0.3 microliter), meaning less pain; and one of the largest displays in an easy-to-read, easy-to-use meter, the FreeStyle Freedom Lite system gives people with diabetes a new option to help simplify their diabetes management routine.
