According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a worldwide Stage 6 H1N1 Swine Flu Pandemic could cause a massive surge of patients to hospitals and healthcare facilities. Margaret Chan, director-general of the WHO states that, "All countries should immediately activate their pandemic preparedness plans."

Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms (AIIR)

CDC regulations state that effective and essential pandemic preparedness and response measures include the capacity to isolate infectious patients in a negative pressure Airborne Infectious Isolation Room environment. Abatement Technologies HEPA-CARE Air Purification Systems are used today in more than 5,000 hospitals and medical facilities around the world to convert almost any space into CDC-compliant negative pressure Airborne Infectious Isolation Rooms.

High efficiency HEPA-CARE Systems use special HEPA filters to remove deadly, infectious airborne pathogens from the air. According to independent testing, these systems can capture or inactivate more than 99.99% of the 0.3-micron size (0.000012-inch) organisms that pass through them.

Portable HEPA-CARE models roll quietly to wherever they are needed at a moments notice. Used for days, weeks or months at a time, these highly mobile units provide the greatest flexibility for increasing surge isolation capacity quickly, and in the most cost-effective manner.

Mass Patient Isolation

This is achieved by using the equipment to convert or reconfigure an on-site flat space such as a wing, a large corridor, or a conference room, or an off-site area such as a gymnasium or mobile tent system.

Abatement Temporary Anterooms

Abatement Technologies also offers two alternative solutions for creating a temporary transition space, or anteroom, as a buffer area between common spaces and patient isolation areas: the ANTE UP® Inflatable Emergency Anteroom and the AIRE GUARDIAN® AR Modular Anteroom. Both can be negatively or positively pressurized as needed, to control the direction of airflow and further protect other patients and hospital personnel.

Germicidal UV-C Disinfection Modules

Equipped with four powerful UV-C lamps, Abatement Technologies HEPA-CARE Germicidal UV Disinfection Modules irradiate, disinfect and kill dangerous infectious pathogens. Each module generates 156 watts of germicidal UV energy to clean and sterilize the air.

Testing and Certification by Independent National Laboratories

Abatement Technologies HEPA filters are tested and certified for performance specifications in accordance with Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology IEST-RP-CC001.3 and MIL-STD 282. HEPA-CARE true 99.99% HEPA filters are constructed with extruded anodized aluminum frames, have a UL900 Class I flammability rating, and meet IEST and MIL standards, including 100% efficiency testing. The unique silicone gel seal provides a more secure, bypass-free seal than other designs.
