Nationwide Tour Offers Free Skin Cancer Screenings And Education about Skin Cancer Prevention

SKILLMAN, N.J., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AVEENO(R), a brand of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Companies, Inc., announces its second year of sponsorship of The Skin Cancer Foundation's "Road to Healthy Skin" tour. The free skin cancer screening tour kicks off today at Pershing Square, just outside of New York City's Grand Central Terminal, and will visit more than 80 locations across the country through September 2009. The tour will offer free, full body skin cancer screenings in a private room inside a 38-foot customized RV, conducted by local board-certified dermatologists who have volunteered their time and expertise.

"Skin cancer is still the most common form of cancer in the United States, but it is also the most preventable and curable form of cancer if it is detected early," says dermatologist Jeanine Downie, MD. "We are proud of the amount of people we screened last year and that we identified over 900 potential skin cancers with 39 of them potentially being the most deadly form - melanoma. We hope to see an increase in the practice of preventative measures so that we can soon report a decrease in the number of new cases of skin cancer as a result of these tours."

According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, there are more cases of skin cancer than the combined incidence of cancers of the breast, prostate, lung and colon; in fact, one in five American
