NEW YORK, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Diabetes is one of the five most deadly diseases in the United States today. The American Diabetes Association estimates that some 21 million Americans suffer from diabetes, a third of who don't even know it. Today is the twentieth anniversary of American Diabetes Alert Day, which serves to encourage Americans to find out if they are at risk. For many people, diabetes can be managed with a few lifestyle changes. In some cases, doctors may recommend medicine. For patients who need medicine prescribed by their doctors, but do not have health insurance, there are programs that can help.
