AT&T Expands Wireless Coverage on Broad Street Line of SEPTA
Date:2/21/2009

PHILADELPHIA, Feb. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T*, the only wireless carrier that lets Philadelphia subway commuters talk, text and email underground, today announced it has expanded its wireless network coverage along the Broad Street subway line between the Fairmount to Walnut-Locust Stations. Operated by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), the Broad Street line is well travelled by more than 150,000 daily riders accessing stops at City Hall and the South Philadelphia Sports Complex.

"AT&T is committed to providing a best-in-class wireless experience throughout Philadelphia," said Michael Schweder, president, AT&T Mid-Atlantic Region. "Expanding our network coverage along the rails of the SEPTA subway system makes this choice of mass transit more convenient than ever."

"Whether they're checking e-mail, surfing the internet or exchanging text messages, today's wireless customers want to make the most of their commute time and that's certainly true as they 'ride the rails' each day," said Dan Lafond, vice president and general manager for AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets in Eastern Pennsylvania.

The new underground wireless system is in addition to existing coverage already available from AT&T for the entire Market-Frankford subway line including the underground section between 40th and 2nd Streets as well as Regional Rail stations at 30th Street, Suburban Street and Market East.

These sites are part of an overall strategy by AT&T to provide the greatest possible depth and breadth of wireless coverage in areas where residents and visitors of Philadelphia, work, live and play.
