AT&T Enhances Performance for LAMMICO With Upgraded Network Services
Date:2/25/2008

METAIRIE, La., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new three-year networking contract with Louisiana-based LAMMICO, a preferred insurer dedicated to developing and delivering insurance products and services to Louisiana physicians and other health care providers.

Under terms of the agreement, AT&T will deliver Virtual Private Network (VPN) services to LAMMICO's four domestic locations; three in Louisiana and an off-site disaster recovery data center in Denver. The enterprise-class network also provides the flexibility and scalability to expand upon existing services as the company's communications needs grow. The any-to-any solution, which uses AT&T's Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) network, will allow LAMMICO to prioritize and transfer critical data to alternative locations throughout the network. AT&T's MPLS network also provides high levels of redundancy for network reliability.

"We were in search of a new provider capable of upgrading our existing VPN services to enable us to support critical aspects of our business. LAMMICO can now secure communications between our staff and insured physicians and connect with our disaster recovery site in the event of a hurricane," said Rob Rohr, network engineer, LAMMICO. "The solution provided by AT&T will not only support peak performance for voice and data communications and secure data backup. It will also streamline cost and administrative time by merging services under a single brand."

LAMMICO has turned to a single provider for voice and data services and is also upgrading its current platform with enhanced disaster recovery capabilities. Along with the AT&T VPN solution, LAMMICO uses the AT&T BusinessDirect(R) Web portal for personalized, secure, anytime access to detailed information regarding critical customer applications.
