WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today, the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) announced that Congressman Kucinich will participate in a conference call to discuss his plan for health care reform with thousands of women medical professionals and students from across the country on December 7.
"As women and medical professionals, our members understand first-hand how important the issue of health care is to our country and our families. That's why I'm so pleased Congressman Kucinich has agreed to join us in this conversation about his plans for universal health care," said Claudia Morrissey, AMWA's President elect.
"Conversations with the Candidates" is designed to provide a bi-partisan opportunity for Presidential candidates to discuss their health care reform plans with female health professionals via nationwide conference calls. Along with AMWA, the conversations are co-sponsored by AARP, the American College of Women's Health Physicians and American Income Life Insurance.
AMWA also announced a number of partner organizations including: America's Agenda: Health Care for All, American Medical Student Association, and thirteen other health organizations.
AMWA is the largest and oldest multi-specialty organization representing women physicians and medical students dedicated to serving as the unique voice for women's health and the advancement of women in medicine. The group was in 1915, at a time when women physicians were an under-represented minority. As women in medicine increase in numbers, new problems and issues arise that were not anticipated. AMWA has been addressing these issues for 90 years. AMWA believes that guaranteed access to high-quality, patient centered, preventive and curative health care is the most fundamental women's health issue of our time.
The call with Congressman Kucinich will be held at 11:00 a.m. EST.
