AMICAS adds order entry to zero client personalized portal for referring

physicians

BOSTON, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AMICAS, Inc. (Nasdaq: AMCS), a leader in radiology and medical image and information management solutions, today announced that it will launch Vision Reach(TM) 2.0, an innovative tool that can help imaging businesses grow by attracting referrals and securing referring physician loyalty, at the 2007 Radiological Society of North America annual meeting from November 25 to 30, 2007, in Chicago, IL. AMICAS will be in booth #2583.

Vision Reach 2.0 includes a Web-based radiology order entry capability, which enables referring physicians and their staff to order exams online directly from completed reports or from the Vision Reach portal -- in addition to receiving instantaneous secure notification when radiology reports are available.

This functionality builds on Vision Reach's unique zero client architecture -- which means no software to download and no plug-ins to worry about -- and its ability to integrate the radiology report with key images and create a single "multi-media" report for referring physicians. Vision Reach also includes a personalized referring portal for physicians and their staff of all current and historical exams.

"Vision Reach has been incredibly powerful, yet easy to maintain," said Lisa Botbyl, who is responsible for maintaining relationships with referring physicians at San Diego Imaging in San Diego, CA. "Users find the software intuitive and simple to use -- so much so that providers are logging in to Vision Reach on their laptops and discussing results with patients right in the exam room."

Delivering a premium level of service to referring physicians, Vision Reach can help AMICAS customers to grow their relationships and businesses. Vision Reach uses common e-mail and secure messaging to proactively deliver images, reports, and information to any portable e-mail-enabled device. The zero install client Web-based application eliminates installation and any client-level application requirements.

"We believe that Vision Reach is a one-of-a-kind application in the radiology industry," said Paul Merrild, vice president of marketing at AMICAS. "Extending the existing advantages of Vision Reach to include online ordering was a natural next step in the evolution of Vision Reach -- and serves as a direct response to workflow and service challenges experienced in the radiology suite and beyond."

Vision Reach is available as a standalone referring physician product or in combination with the AMICAS Vision Series(TM) suite of products, including RIS, PACS, and Financials.

AMICAS offers a top-flight image management platform for hospitals and an integrated RIS, PACS, document management, and revenue cycle management solution for ambulatory imaging businesses.
