Funds to Support the Operations of Grady Memorial Hospital

ATLANTA, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- The AMERIGROUP Foundation announced today that it has donated $100,000 to the Henry W. Grady Health System Foundation. The funds will be used to support the work of Grady Memorial Hospital, which plays a pivotal role in bringing healthcare to many low-income and uninsured Georgia residents.

The AMERIGROUP Foundation is affiliated with AMERIGROUP Community Care of Georgia, a care management organization that serves 218,000 financially vulnerable Georgians who are enrolled in the State of Georgia's Georgia Families program. Grady Memorial Hospital is a crucial part of AMERIGROUP Community Care's medical network and cares for AMERIGROUP's members on a daily basis.

"Grady Memorial Hospital and AMERIGROUP share a common goal: Bringing healthcare to those Georgians whose needs are great and whose needs far too often go unmet," said Melvin Lindsey, Interim Chief Executive Officer for AMERIGROUP Community Care in Georgia.

"Grady has played an indispensable role in our community for 115 years," Lindsey said. "Its dedicated staff of doctors and nurses make a difference in the lives of their patients every day. We at AMERIGROUP are pleased to stand with Grady's people and support their mission at this crucial moment in their history."

"We are delighted to receive the support of AMERIGROUP and the AMERIGROUP Foundation," said Suzanne Rogers, Executive Director of the Henry W. Grady Health System Foundation. "This grant will help us continue to serve our community and to meet the health needs that only Grady can meet. We are proud to join together with AMERIGROUP to bring healthcare to all those in our community who need it. "

In 2006, the AMERIGROUP Foundation awarded the Henry W. Grady Health System Foundation two grants that totaled $100,000. With today's award, the AMERIGROUP Foundation has donated a total of $200,000 to Grady over
