AED.com Now Offers Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Sports Packages

Because of the cardiac risks involved with sporting events, the American Heart Association has long recommended AED placement at these events. Sporting organizations like the NCAA require that teams have an AED readily available at all games and practices. Recently, controversy has surrounded the death of college footballer Wayne Jones III when his parents filed a lawsuit establishing that when he suffered cardiac arrest he did not receive immediate care and there was not an AED readily available at the practice. According to Jones’ autopsy, he died due to a fatal arrhythmia from a scar tissue in his heart. Many athletes that suffer cardiac arrest do so because of an underlying heart condition that had not been previously detected.
