ACell, Inc. Founder Mentioned on the Oprah Winfrey Show as Inventor of Powder for Healing Severed Fingers
Date:3/25/2009

COLUMBIA, Md., March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- ACell, Inc. and its founder, Alan Spievack, MD, were mentioned on The Oprah Winfrey show as Lee Spievack described how his severed finger grew back after applying ACell's wound care powder.

ACell's MatriStem regenerative medicine technology is a naturally occurring bioscaffold derived from porcine tissue. When MatriStem is placed onto a wound, it is resorbed and replaced with new native tissue where scar tissue would normally be expected. MatriStem devices are currently available in sheet and powder form and can be used in a broad range of medical applications such as severed finger trauma, wound care, general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, urology and plastic and reconstructive surgery.

"Alan Spievack, our founder, surgeon and inventor of ACell's technology, spent his life researching how to encourage the body to heal itself through regenerative medicine technology," stated Jim DeFrancesco, President and CEO of ACell, Inc. "Dr. Spievack would be proud to see his technology being used to help people with severed fingers and other difficult to heal wounds."
