Date:12/1/2008

DALLAS, Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (NYSE: ACS) re-enters the entire federal market with innovative solutions designed to help U.S. government agencies lower costs and increase service. With the expiration of an agreement that restricted ACS services to only a few agencies, ACS can now offer its proven business process and IT solutions to all federal customers.

As the U.S. faces economic uncertainty, ACS will bring federal agencies results-based solutions that offer ACS' applied innovation to ensure that technology and operations evolve to meet changing needs.

"We can show federal agencies, based on ACS' success on the state and local level and with commercial customers, how we can save them money and give them the power to improve productivity," said Tim Conway, senior vice president and managing director of ACS Federal Solutions. "Our services are designed to improve operations so agencies can focus on their core tasks."

ACS can help federal agencies with:

-- Mailroom and Administrative Services: By converting incoming mail to digital images, ACS reduces error, lowers costs, and offers secure and convenient access to records.

-- Customer Care: ACS offers complete customer care services that can support the mission of any agency by using best-of-breed technology and operational excellence.

-- Finance and Accounting: ACS is a leader in converting funds distribution systems from paper checks to electronic payment cards, providing services for 15 state governments.

-- Claims Administration: ACS is a pioneer in government healthcare program administration. Our claims and collection services are proven to improve accuracy and speed.

"While many federal agencies can benefit from ACS expertise, a focus for us is healthcare reform and how our solutions can help make affordable healthcare possible," said Joe Doherty, executive vice president and group president of ACS' Government Solutions Group. "ACS is anxious to leverage our leadership and experience in healthcare solutions to provide innovative, scalable, and cost effective solutions that can improve service."

With the end of a noncompete agreement, ACS now has unrestricted ability to add to its current limited federal client list, which includes the Department of Education, where ACS services student loans for over nine million borrowers annually, and the Department of Labor, where ACS processes more than five million bills each year for the Office of Workers' Compensation. ACS has also performed business process services as a subcontractor for the State Department, Department of Homeland Security, Treasury Department, and the Social Security Administration. ACS holds a GSA Schedule 36 contract for Office, Imaging, and Document Solutions and will expand its GSA offerings in the immediate future.

ACS is an operational partner to more than 1,500 agencies at all levels of government located in every state in the U.S. Each year, for example, ACS processes more than half of the nation's child support payments; manages electronic payment card services programs in 15 states; processes nearly 550 million Medicaid claims totaling more than $42 billion in payments; handles more than half of the electronic toll transactions in the United States; facilitates more than 185 million online unclaimed property searches; and supports more than 450,000 Emergency Medical Services transports and accounts for nearly $75 million in EMS payments.
