Date:5/12/2011

PHILADELPHIA, May 12, 2011 -- The American College of Physicians (ACP) is pleased to announce that ACP Internist, ACP Hospitalist, and ACP InternistWeekly have won awards for excellence in publishing.

ACP Internist won a Gold EXCEL award from Association Media & Publishing in the Newspapers: Feature Article: More than 50,000 category for an article on remote monitoring and a silver award for Best How-To Article from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) for a piece on simulators.

ACP InternistWeekly won a silver award for Best E-Newsletter and ACP Hospitalist won a bronze award for Best Department (Success Story) from ASHPE.

"Congratulations to ACP's entire Publishing Department," said Steven Weinberger, MD, FACP, executive vice president and CEO of ACP, the organization that publishes ACP Internist, ACP Hospitalist, and ACP InternistWeekly. "ACP's publications from our monthly print newspapers to our weekly e-newsletters are invaluable sources of news and clinical information for internal medicine physicians."

ACP Internist and ACP Hospitalist highlight news on the diagnosis and treatment of complex or chronic diseases; translate guidelines and other evidence-based recommendations into practical guidance during clinical encounters; offer peer-written columns on diagnosis and decision-making; and outline career management tips and trends, among other topics.

ACP InternistWeekly is an e-newsletter containing clinical updates and breaking news specific to internal medicine and is distributed every Tuesday.

The EXCEL Awards honor and represent the best publishing products of the association industry. ASHPE recognizes editorial excellence and achievement in the field of health care publishing.
