ABIH Approves Certification Credit for SSPC Training Courses

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- SSPC: The Society for Protective Coatings is pleased to announce that the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) has approved awarding of certification credits for industrial hygienists who pass the SSPC Lead Paint Removal (C-3) and Lead Paint Removal Refresher (C-5) training courses. ABIH is a non-profit professional membership association dedicated to the advancement of the field of industrial hygiene and is the certifying organization for Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs).

Any Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Certified Associate Industrial Hygienist (CAIH) who passes these SSPC courses will earn 4.0 Certification Maintenance (CM) points from ABIH. All CIH/CAIHs must take continuing education and training in order to maintain their certifications. The CM points earned from taking C-3 and C-5 will now be credited toward maintenance of their certifications.

The ABIH approval follows the milestone establishment of SSPC as an IACET- Approved Training Provider in 2006. By establishing relationships with other certifying and accreditation organizations, such as ABIH and IACET, SSPC is expanding its footprint in the professional continuing education business. These strategic relationships are important to the growth of SSPC's training and certification program, as they expose it to new segments of the industrial marketplace.

Both courses will next be offered at the Paint and Coatings EXPO -- PACE 2008, taking place January 27-30, 2008 in Los Angeles, CA. For course schedules and information, please visit http://www.pace2008.com.
