AARP Supports Assembly Health Care Reform Proposal

WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP CEO William Novelli made the following statement about today's passage of the health care reform bill (ABX1 1) by the California State Assembly:

"Governor Schwarzenegger, Speaker Nunez, President Pro Tem Perata and other members of the California Legislature deserve praise for putting partisanship aside to make such impressive progress toward comprehensive health care reform.

The bill the Assembly passed today takes California a long step forward in the fight to enact health care reform that addresses cost, quality and coverage. We recognize this is not over, and AARP will work closely with the Senate with the hope of supporting the final product.

The chance to enact comprehensive reform in California is an opportunity we cannot let pass. The impact of such landmark change will be felt across America and AARP is hopeful that California can set the example the rest of the nation is waiting for."
