WASHINGTON, Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Continuing its role as a leading supporter and advocate of preferred provider organizations, the American Association of Preferred Provider Organizations (AAPPO) today announced a strategic alliance with Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA) that will significantly enhance benefits for members of both associations.
Competition, consolidation and increased consumerism continue to fuel further change in the delivery of health care for both preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and third party administrators (TPAs). The formation of the AAPPO and HCAA partnership will provide additional resources for PPOs and TPAs to meet the needs of an evermore demanding and diverse audience, which includes providers, employers and consumers.
"Our partnership with Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA) will provide both the PPO and TPA communities the venue and opportunity to exchange ideas, share perspectives and begin to develop solutions that will better serve their customers through partnerships with providers," said Karen Greenrose, president and CEO of AAPPO. "Members of both associations will now have the benefit of broader support and a portfolio of resources."
"HCAA is committed to providing its members with the legislative and regulatory guidance that they need to understand all of the rapidly changing health care regulations," said Linda Ludwick, president of HCAA. "It is paramount to our mission that we arm our members with the resources they need to achieve their goals, and the AAPPO and HCAA partnership further supports our efforts in ensuring our members have the tools and information they need to be leaders in our industry."
The alliance will provide strategic collaboration in the following areas:
-- Public Policy
-- Data Collection
AAPPO (http://www.aappo.org) is the leading national association of preferred provider organizations (PPOs) and affiliate organizations. PPOs put control for medical decisions in the hands of the physician and patient, resulting in easy access to the right care, provided by the right doctor, at the right time. AAPPO creates a forum for discussion and dissemination of best practices through its formal committee structure.
HCAA (http://www.hcaa.org) was formed in 1980 as the Independent Administrators Association, a California-based not-for-profit that acted as a legislative and regulatory advisory group for third party administrators and related service providers. Since its formation, HCAA has become a national organization attracting membership from throughout the United States. Following the passage of ERISA and similar laws, HCAA has provided third party administrators the needed educational opportunities with leading experts in the industry.
