AAP President provides update on agenda for children

rt. The AAP continues to validate and improve its Bright Futures: Guidelines for Health Supervision of Infants, Children and Adolescents, which will further strengthen pediatricians as the physicians most appropriate to oversee the health care of the world's children.

Dr. Burton is the 2010-2011 president of the AAP. He is a community pediatrician and associate dean for clinical affairs and director of community pediatrics at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. A graduate of Clemson University and Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), he trained at MUSC and at Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Burton and his wife, Debbie, live in Columbia, S.C., and have six children and seven grandchildren.
