A-lign Directors Selected as Returning Instructors for American Institute of CPA’s (AICPA) SOC School
Date:7/19/2013

(PRWEB) July 19, 2013

A-lign Managing Director Scott G. Price, CPA, CFF, CISA, CIA and Director Neil Gonsalves, CPA, CISA and CA spent the early part of the week in Baltimore, Maryland where they were tasked with teaching CPA practitioners who sought out instruction on how to provide best in class services related to:

  •     The effectiveness of controls at a service organization that impact their clients internal controls over financial reporting (SOC 1)
  •     Controls at a service organization related to information privacy, security, confidentiality, availability and processing integrity (SOC 2 and SOC 3).

The AICPA SOC School is designed for participants to gain a deeper understanding of Service Organization Control Guidance, common practice issues, and to obtain foundational knowledge to effectively perform engagements. This is the second year that Mr. Price and Mr. Gonsalves have served the AICPA as SOC School Instructors. Price and Gonsalves’ involvement with AICPA’s SOC School began last year when they assisted the AICPA in developing the class curriculum and provided input on how to interpret the standards in practice.

The class was at full capacity with over 75 CPAs in attendance. Feedback from the attendees was very positive and many commented on the success of the class and how well it was taught. “We value our relationship and involvement with the AICPA, and we are honored that they are confident in our skillset to teach these individuals,” commented Scott Price. “Their trust in our ability to provide SOC training validates what our company mission stands for – to be looked upon as trusted leaders in this field.”

Scott Price has performed over 950 SOC reviews, and holds numerous leadership roles in the Tampa area and in the accounting arena. Neil Gonsalves has over 450 SOC audits of experience. Bot
