68% Fake? Japanese Dietary Products Sold on eBay
Date:2/15/2013

(PRWEB) February 15, 2013

Investigation Summary:
Target: Three hundred and ten dietary products either labeled "made in Japan," or having another kind of explanation associating the product with Japan, sold in the ninety day period preceding February 10, 2013.
Method: Verification based on product images (We have concluded that it is possible from product images to determine whether a product is actually sold in Japan. Consequently, items which duplicate the packaging of products sold in Japan so accurately as to be indecipherable as fakes, may be counted as legitimate.)
Research by Anislo, Inc

68% of dietary products sold are not goods sold in Japan:
We found that 68% of the dietary products sold on eBay and either labeled "Made in Japan," or having another kind of explanation associating the product with Japan, are goods that are not sold in Japan. Many of the fake and suspicious items have packages printed with unintelligible Chinese characters that appear Japanese at a glance, but would immediately be suspect to a Japanese customer. These items may or may not be made with the intent of deceiving customers who are not familiar with Japanese. Further, we did not find any imitation goods with an "item location" indicated as Japan, and a very small portion of items sold by top rated sellers, even when the "item location" was outside of Japan, were determined to be fake or suspicious.

About Anislo:
Anislo is a service that makes it possible to purchase goods from online retailers in Japan that do not provide international shipping. Users can register through their Facebook account and providing essential delivery information (name, address, phone number, etc.). Once a user is registered, they are issued a free shipping address in Japan to use for online shopping. When users purchase an item online, they enter the address issued to them, and Anislo temporarily receives their merchandise. Anislo then charges a delivery fee to send the merchandise to the user's international address.
