The joint solution offers full access to inpatient and outpatient core measures data, advanced analytical tools, and comparative reports in an integrated system, allowing hospitals to proactively assess performance and identify opportunities for quality improvement including potentially preventable readmissions and complications.

(PRWEB) May 4, 2010 -- The Maryland Hospital Association’s (MHA) Quality Indicator Project® (QI Project®), a leading provider of clinical performance measurement and reporting services to hospitals nationwide, has signed an agreement with 3M Health Information Systems to integrate the QI Project Core Measures solution with 3M™ ClinTrac™ Quality Manager Software. The joint solution offers full access to inpatient and outpatient core measures data, advanced analytical tools, and comparative reports in an integrated system, allowing hospitals to proactively assess performance and identify opportunities for quality improvement including potentially preventable readmissions and complications.

With the agreement, hospitals using 3M ClinTrac Quality Manager Software will gain access to the QI Project Core Measures Component (CMC) and the Outpatient Component (OPC), nationally recognized quality measures reporting software that are used to meet reporting requirements of The Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and other regulatory agencies. The QI Project solution includes user-friendly, web-based software that facilitates electronic data collection and transmission, and provides data analysis tools for organization-wide performance assessment. Data will be transferred seamlessly between the QI Project and ClinTrac applications.

“Increasingly, hospitals are seeking to coordinate care and quality management processes from patient admission to discharge,” said Brett Bennett, senior vice president for the MHA Quality Indicator Project. “Our strategic alliance with 3M provides hospitals with a solution that streamlines data collection and reporting, leverages the data for multiple purposes, and shortens the time required to put information to work to drive quality improvement.”

“Expanding federal and state quality initiatives demand that facilities have effective processes in place to support compliance and reporting,” said Ray Terrill, senior vice president, 3M Health Information Systems. “By offering 3M ClinTrac Quality Manager Software with the QI Project’s core measures system, we can help facilities keep pace with changing regulations while improving the quality and safety of patient care.”

3M ClinTrac Quality Manager Software enables facilities to collect, store and report quality indicator and measurement data. The software may be used to design quality reviews and studies, monitor progress against goals, and document results. Quality management professionals may collect, store and report quality indicator and measurement data for their facility, define the workflow for that data collection, and review and track submission requirements for national and state reporting. By recording the results of each quality study in a consistent format, 3M ClinTrac Quality Manager Software helps organizations measure and improve performance over time.
