Date:11/11/2008

NEW YORK, Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The 14th Annual National Ergonomics Conference and Exposition (NECE) at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, Dec. 2 - 5 will be attended by ergonomics, safety and other key decision makers representing national and international organizations, including: American Airlines, Bayer, CDC, ExxonMobil, Ford, GM, Intel, JetBlue, Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic, Office Depot, Toyota, US Dept of Labor/OSHA, U.S. Army and hundreds more.

Registered attendees have selected from an expanded program that includes 89 distinctive educational opportunities, beginning with comprehensive full-day and half-day workshops on Dec. 2. Dec. 3 - 5 will feature a variety of 90-minute sessions over multiple tracks of conference programming, and ErgoSchool Lunch and Learn sessions that provide unique peer to peer exchanges over a three-course meal. This year marks the debut of four new tracks of conference programming geared toward those involved in workplace design and occupational health. These new tracks are coupled with the NECE's core educational topics of ROI, the aging workforce, safety, and ergonomics in office, industrial, service, and healthcare environments.

This year's program was developed with feedback from NECE Alumni after last year's event, and much consideration was paid to the current state of the business world. "Attendees told us that learning new ways to use ergonomics to improve productivity and efficiency, and boost their company's profitability are more important than ever in the current economic climate" noted Walter Charnizon, President of Continental Exhibitions, Inc. owners and producers of the NECE. "Those that have scaled their staff back must ensure that their most valuable resource, their workforce, is able to work safely, and at peak capacity," Charnizon further commented, "Those primary business goals are at the core of every NECE session, and are the foundation for the design of every product and service available at the Expo."

Standing room only is expected at the NECE keynotes, which are regarded as the industry's best. On Dec. 3, Ronald Leopold, MD, MBA, MPH; National Medical Director / VP of MetLife will explain the untapped benefit of ergonomics and safety programs and their contribution to productivity and employee retention in light of the aging workforce. This year's State of the Industry Address on Dec. 4 will be delivered by James Hagan, PhD, MS; VP Corporate Environment, Health and Safety for GlaxoSmithKline. Hagan will discuss the role of ergonomics in green design and corporate sustainability, two of the largest emerging fields in the global economy. And on Dec. 5, Michael Smith, PhD, CPE; Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Industrial & Systems Engineering, University of Wisconsin, will address future opportunities for ergonomists and the ergonomics industry as a whole. Ergonomics and safety leaders from Boeing, Ford, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., Liberty Mutual, Mayo Health Systems, MHIA, Pacific Gas & Electric, Raytheon and others will share their secrets to ergonomics success as members of the world-class NECE speaker faculty. Attendees that hold certifications with the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOH), American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), and other professional organizations can apply for certification maintenance and continuing education units and, the BCPE exam will be held at Caesars Palace on Dec. 1 so that testing participants can attend the full NECE program

It will be a full house at the Expo with nearly all of last year's exhibitors renewing, some even doubling the size of their exhibit space in anticipation of an audience hungry for new productivity and cost-saving solutions. This year's exhibitors are planning for new product debuts, and entering the 7th Annual Attendees' Choice Awards Program which go to the products attendees believe will have the greatest contribution to a company's productivity, safety and bottom line. Exhibitors will include: 3M, AliMed, Ansell Healthcare, Arjo / Diligent, Ergomat, Herman Miller, Plantronics, Power Pusher by Nu*Star, Steelcase and many more.
