1776 Challenge Cup London Tips Its Hat to Fluency, Open Utility, Touch Surgery and SocioTransit in Startup Competition

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 21, 2013

Today, 1776, an incubator platform located a few blocks from the White House, in partnership with Impact HUB Westminister, a London-based social start-up space announced the winners of the Challenge Cup for the London region.

Challenge Cup is a startup competition spanning 16 cities around the world and culminating in Washington, D.C. to find the world's most promising startups tackling education, healthcare, energy, and city challenges.

Thirty startups competed during the evening of the November 20th event. The competitors also participated in an accelerator program for the two days preceding the competition.

“The London event closed out the European leg of competition and brought together the creative minds of startups from across the United Kingdom as well as Ireland, Denmark, Italy, and Romania,” said Evan Burfield, co-founder of 1776. “We continue to be impressed by the passion and enthusiasm that we have seen from all of the startups thus far and look forward to hearing more unique ideas leading up to the Challenge Cup finale in May.”

The regional winners include:

?    Education: Fluency - An online learning platform, workshops, and incubator programs that help young people learn in-demand digital skills and get in to work.

The next Challenge Cup competitions will be held in Los Angeles, New York, and Boston in December 2013. Challenge Cup Global Partners include: U.S. Chamber of Commerce, District of Columbia, Pearson, TechCocktail, iStrategyLabs, Microsoft, and The Aspen Institute.
