11th Annual Light the Night Date Announced
Date:8/4/2009

SAN DIEGO, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- On Friday, November 20th, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's, 11th Annual Light the Night Walk, will take place at Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley to raise money for those battling blood cancers. Carrying illuminated balloons - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer - thousands of walkers will come together to bring light to the dark world of cancer during this 2-mile walk around the stadium's concourse.

With over 3,000 people in attendance, last year's Walk raised more than $380,000. Through the money raised by this local walk and from those across the nation, San Diego researchers are awarded research grants to find solutions to this evergrowing epidemic. At the event there will be something for everyone including music, activities, booths, food and a kids zone. Check-In will be at 5:00 PM with the opening ceremony beginning at 6:00 PM and the Walk starting at 6:30 PM.

"This is truly a special event because it brings survivors, supporters and those who have lost love ones to cancer together to find a glimpse of faith and motivation during this dark time," says Jenna Korb, Executive Director. "It's amazing to see our community come together each year for this Walk. Many San Diego businesses get involved, put together teams and raise astonishing amounts during this night of fun and fundraising."

Past participating companies include Kohl's, Burlington Coat Factory, Cricket Communications, Biogen Idec, UCSD Moore's Cancer Center, Ruby's Diner, GEICO and many more. Tina Fey is the National Spokesperson for the 2009 Light the Night Walk.
