Author Shirley Lorraine Franks helps nurses everywhere decide whether or not to relocate as she recalls how she left the Virgin Islands to become a nurse in America in her debut nonfiction “A Foreign Nurse's Guide to America” (published by iUniverse).

A unique combination of autobiography and guidebook, “A Foreign Nurse’s Guide to America” recounts Franks’ upbringing in the Virgin Islands, her education and work as a nurse there and her decision to relocate to the United States.

As she recalls the challenges she overcame to accomplish her goals, Franks shares a wealth of tips and information with readers. “Regardless of whether you are an aspiring medical professional or have been in the field for years, you’ll learn how to succeed as a nurse wherever you go,” she writes.

“A Foreign Nurse's Guide to America” helps readers to:

  •     Decide whether or not to move.
  •     Avoid distractions and procrastination.

  •     Get the best training available.
  •     Find employment in another country.

Franks discusses how to be a successful nurse in any setting. This helpful guide addresses the many misconceptions and misunderstandings surrounding a potential relocation and arms readers with the necessary tools for making a smooth transition.
