"Critical Conditions" is a new book about how to help a loved one survive a hospital stay. Based on over 150 interviews with doctors, registered nurses, hospital staff, families, hundreds of hours of research and Martine's own experiences with multiple family members' hospitalizations, "Critical Conditions" shows the reader how to become a proactive advocate for hospitalized loved ones in order to prevent medical errors, medication mistakes, fatal falls, the spread of hospital-acquired infectious diseases and more. A recovering patient cannot do this for himself. The book also offers extensive information on how to reach the doctors when you really need them -- every time, how to optimize the relationship with the patient's primary nurse to maximize their care, and how to navigate the hospital with confidence.
